The Roundup

What a week it’s been – full of adrenaline for good things and bad. This is a round up of the most interesting things I saw online this past week. I follow what I’d consider to be a large variety of interests, so I hope you find something interesting below, too.

First, the most important news right now: On Becoming Anti-Racist (there are a lot of great resources being pulled together right now, but that’s a good place to start; also see Harvard’s implicit bias test which was linked in one of the comments. My results surprised me in a good way: “Your responses suggested no automatic preference between African Americans and European Americans.” Despite a good upbringing in loving everyone and trying not to judge, I still need to work at this every day.) Related: Crayola released “Colors of the World” crayons that include 24 skin tone shades

Second, the other most important news: A variety of interesting or important things this week related to the coronavirus: 54 Ways Coronavirus Has Changed Our World (h/t FlowingData; I have been meaning to make a list of all the unintended/unexpected consequences of the pandemic); You Don’t Always Know Who Is High Risk (one more page in “Don’t Judge a Book By Its Cover” lessons); COVID-19 and the loneliness of American heroism (I’ve been thinking about this and glad to have found this article); and These Athletes Had the Coronavirus – Will They Ever Be the Same? (we don’t know, and I think it prudent to do our best to not get infected).

Space: I hope you watched the SpaceX / NASA launch on Saturday, but if not, catch up on NASA’s YouTube channel

Drone Photography: Using a Drone to Create Stop-Motion Animations in the Sky (well, this is awesome)

Agritech: Watch a Robot Dog Herd Sheep in New Zealand (technology in the agriculture space doesn’t get nearly enough media attention, but it’s super interesting)

National Parks Illustrated + Funny: Illustrated Bad Reviews of National Parks (this has been making the rounds, but I keep going back to it for a good laugh)

Squirrels again: Apparently I’m on a squirrel kick now (see last week’s roundup): Squirrels star in Ontario couple’s elaborate backyard photoshoots

Summer Sun: The Definitive Guide to Sun Exposure (some things to keep in mind as we get into the best season of the year)

Funny + Real Estate: Bigfoot Poses in Hilarious Real Estate Photos for $1M House

And a funny to leave you with…
